We all eat them, but what is the greatest sandwich? I understand this can change depending on mood, time of day etc...
For me late Sunday morning...
A basic grilled cheese sandwich, brown bread, mature chedder, made in a Breville grill is unbeatable. Oh yes!6/5/2010 -

A recent favorite: turkey and cheddar on toasted brown bread with cranberry sauce, mayo and salad.
Another fave: tuna salad (tuna, mayo, celery, red onion, garlic, dijon mustard, dill relish, parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice) in pitta bread. Actually, it's also good on toasted brown bread with a slice of cheddar which has been melted to perfection.
I love sandwiches.6/5/2010 -

So many sandwiches, so little time. Must say I'm partial to tuna (NO relish) with cheddar, BLT with avocado and ham with cheddar.

I'll vote Bodeans soho from Lizzie's list. Though there's this amazing sandwhich at Whole Foods of all places (I know, don't give me that look), in the market takeout counter called the 'Italian Hero'. Honestly, sometimes I make excuses to go to Kensington to stop by and get one. It's ciabatta with ham, salamis, greens, roasted red peppers, tomato, onion, cheese and a vinegarette. Good cold or they can toast it for you.

A croque should have two slices Lizzie - you've been had! But seriously, I agree. Although his eggy wife, the Croque Madame, gets my vote in the battle of the croques. Argh now I want one....
I know I shouldn't bring it up again but my favourite sandwich is a mushroom cheesesteak. Drooooool....1/6/2010 -

Some people in the U.S. would say "Potbelly Sandwich Works' The Wreck"... they even have a facebook page dedicated to bringing the chain to the UK.
I would beg to differ. I like homemade. Red onions, bread-n-butter pickles, slices of bell pepper, yellow mustard, Miracle whip, green leaf lettuce, sliced turkey, pepper jack, toasted whole wheat/multigrain bread and maybe some avocado slices if you have room...2/6/2010 -

No silly billy, burgers aren't a type of sandwich.
What about the worlds best toasted sandwich that Heston Blumenthal did on his TV show? That was amazing. It was like 4 types of ham and some home made string cheese.5/6/2010 -
