I'm not sure it gets better than Zum Spätzle!!!!! Tired and hungry, attempting to dodge the rain I ducked into ZS for lunch. Talk about luck!!!! The waitress was beyond helpful and provided a menu in English upon request.
This quaint little spot offered such a relaxing vibe, that was much needed!
Now for the food..... I honestly don't even know where to begin. This was my first time eating Spätzle and I was surprised at how incredibly delicious it was. I spent another 1.5 weeks in DE after eating this, and from North to South I did not have a better Spätzle than ZS!!!!!!
Please go check out Sum Spätzle!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 91963852 Aug 2022
BEST FOOD I HAD IN HAMBURG!!!!!! AmazIng authentic southern Bavarian German food. This place was soo good and the staff was so friendly and nice. We came here twice we liked it so much. The spatzle was so yummy. I got the cheese with sauce and my mom just had sauce. I preferred mine hehe (: absolutely incredible!!

I absolutely love Spätzle so was really excited to try this restaurant. It's tiny inside but with a lot of charm! It was as if you're sitting in a German Oma's living room.
The food was really good as well. Spätzle was cooked perfectly and a good portion was served. Definitely give it a try if you want some good comfort southern German food!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Arlen M.Chicago, United States45181628 Apr 2023
Tiny little restaurant, but delicious food -- especially the vegetarian spatzle and maultaschen (spinach and cheese dumplings)

This is a tiny private restaurant tucked away on a side street. We picked it because is was close and it had good Yelp ratings. Seating is very tight and people may need to move tables to let you get to your seat. The diners were a mix of locals and European tourists. We were the only Americans.
I had the krautspatzle and the others in our group had maultasche gebraten. I thought my krautspatzle dish was excellent. It was very different from the brats we had been having for lunch. I tried some of my wife's dish and it too was very tasty. Portions were quite large and I could not finish all of my lunch. We would definitely return to this restaurant.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oren L.Brooklyn, United States17121927 Apr 2019
Traditional swabian comfort food. Not a lot of options in menu.
We took lentils and Spätzle. The lentils mash had nice flavor to it, but the Spätzle just felt like raw pasta which wasnt that interesting.
We also took German dumplings (Maultaschen). I was not a fan though my friend was. The soup was good though.
The desert (some apple pancake with vanilla ice cream, forgot the name) was surprisingly very good. All ingredient completed each other.
Also keep in mind the place is very small with only a few tables.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Seth R.Pittsfield, United States20441025 Sept 2017
If you are in Hamburg, and you don't eat lunch or dinner here, I'm gonna be mad at you.
Totally perfect. Don't miss it.
Great food, great English speaking staff! I had the Maultauchen app and it was awesome, a dumpling filled with meat and spinach. Outstanding flavor. I then moved on to the meatloaf and Spätzle, which was the best I've had in years. The sauce over it all was to die for! I might come back for dinner tonight!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bill H.Berkeley, United States12509346118 Jan 2019
I'm a big fan of Zum Spätzle - I've been here on both of my trips to Hamburg. Both visits were on Sunday afternoons (harder to find places that are open then in Neustadt).
There are English menus present and the staff was totally fluent. Both times I was offered to walk through the menus and recommendations on what to order.
Both times I ordered spätzle and a glass of wine. Both times I got delicious, cheesy goodness.
This place is pretty small - just a couple of tables. I wouldn't be surprised if it's hard to find a seat here during peak hours.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eddie K.Salt Lake City, United States545120 Jan 2019
Wow. I used to live in Munich when I was a kid and have fond memories of eating Spätzle. Eating the Spätzle here was like that scene from Ratatouille, where the food critic takes that bite of food and is transported to his youth. The Spätzle is handmade and delicious. They seem to take great care to source quality ingredients. I had the cheese Spätzle with onions and bacon. I also requested a little of their brown sauce/gravy on the side. This place is also vegan friendly, with vegan options of most of their dishes. Would definitely recommend this place.
