Puschka is classy and modern, it is unlike any other restaurant in Liverpool and although it felt a little bit too upmarket for someone such as myself I was very, very impressed.

The decor inside is classy and modern also and you feel as though you are in quality surroundings and as such the food will be of a high standard. The most impressive thing about the restaurant is that they try to use local ingredients which is great to see and the menu is vast ranging from a rump of Lamb to Southport shrimps which incidentally I would recommend despite not being a fan of seafood .

There are also great wines and a range of beers to be found also although nothing in Puschka comes cheap.

This place is well worth the price and really is a niche within Liverpool's culinary ensemble so I would definitely advise the people of merseyside to try out Puschka.

This is one of the best restaurants in the city. It's a modern, stylish place perfect for a date and serving great contemporary British cuisine - something lacking in the city particularly at this price range.

With the name Pushka I guess I was hoping for something a little exotic, maybe Eastern European but I was really pleased to be treated to well cooked, modern food. Simple, well prepared good ingredients.

The lamb was perfect as was the attentive and friendly service. You're not spending a fortune but feel as if you are getting treated to a fine dining experience.

There are two words to describe Puschka. One is kitschy. The other is romantic. I like kitsch. I also like romance. This was going to be a meeting of minds. The pink walls and woodchip panels of this restaurant give it the cutest retro vibe, and it's a thriving establishment thanks to many word of mouth recommendations regarding its truly fabulous food. It's unfussy, it's easy-going, it ticks all my boxes.

It also ticks all the classic food critic boxes too - good wine, free range produce, organic ingredients, locally sourced bits and bobs, all that gubbins. So be safe in the knowledge that you're eating an ethical and pesticide-free meal. Something you should also be safe in the knowledge of is the fact that you have to, HAVE to have the appetiser of crostini, served with chunky houmous and sun-dried tomato and rosemary tapenade. I could have quite happily had this as my food, skipped straight to the cheesecake and focussed on the wine. But I'm a rubbish diner. And that would have meant missing out on the star-quality mains too.

Despite the posh nature of the food itself, the unfussy quality prevails. They have an excellent wild mushroom and thyme 'pudding', which they do indeed put in inverted commas, which is just the right amount of stodge and richness counterbalanced by a light zingy quality. Oh, and the mussels are amazing, and even come with baker chips as well as bread. That's another tick box right there. And what's the last? That cheesecake I spoke of? Baked, vanilla and white chocolate... I don't think I could ever get sick of that. If there was one food I had to eat for the rest of my life I might pick that. Or their sticky toffee pudding. That's the third time I've mentioned that dish this week! It's incredible though, it offers dates in the mix as well as cinder toffee and butterscotch, served with ice cream.

Yum yum and trice yum. This is a lovely place with really down to earth service and the enthusiasm of the owners really shines through, plus it's in a great location in the old Georgian quarter. Bliss.

This small but unique restaurant really is a dine worthy addition to add to your list of must eat restaurants in the Pool. The theme of the restaurant and the menu is very much a mixture of influences from all over Europe. The exterior maybe georgian but inside you will get a full on european cuisine treatment. I sensed a spanish influence which you might pick up on when you visit.

The menu changes monthly and the specials change daily. It really is a case of being surprised when you sit down with your menu. Almost like wondering, right chef what have you cooked up today. I find this approach to cooking and life in general very refreshing.

It thus comes as no surprise that I keep this humble 40 odd cover restaurant in high regard, and strongly recommend you expect the unexpected. Give it a go, you will like it....I recommend for the main... you give the Breast of Gressingham duck a try...simply delish!!!

As a foreigner, I just googled "Best Sticky Toffee Pudding in Liverpool"...what I got was sooo MUCH better! I ordered a glass of Malbec Rosè to start ( Kudos) then my starter was confit of salmon and crab claw in a lemon sabyon (Sp?) more delicious than I thought it could be with a homemade thick and tasty toast followed by the lamb rump...it was perfectly seasoned and the sauce ... I wanted to lick the plate and the dessert didn't disappoint either. I don't remember her name, but the server was especially nice to top off my last evening in the U.K. before heading back to the States. Best food I've eaten in awhile!

Puschka is a gem of a restaurant, nestled round the corner of Hardman Street, along Rodney Street. The decor is great, the service is excellent and the food is fantastic. There used to be another Puschka restaurant on Hardman Street itself where I have fond memories of the same levels of great food and service!
They have an extensive wine collection and offer Peroni and Cains as bottled beers; however they don't serve any draught lagers.
Their menu changes monthly and their specials are constantly changing, giving their valued customers a regular selection of fine recipes. Their dishes are mainly European and an average main course will cost you £15 to £25 pound. They do offer an early evening menu up until 6.30 which works out cheaper. They are branching out this year with bespoke gourmet festival catering, so look out for the Puschka van at your favourite festival and try fine dining in a muddy field!

I came here for my 30th birthday dinner, and I'm so glad I did. We couldn't have made a better choice! What a wonderful little restaurant this is, you absolutely must go if you're in Liverpool and want a nice meal. The interior is sort of a combination of funky and romantic, with dim purple lighting, cushions on which to recline, and a very small dining room. The menu is a hodgepodge of European influences, and it's the sort of menu that sounds like it could be quite average, but every bite absolutely transcends its menu description.

Since it was my birthday, they wrote "Happy birthday!" on my placemat before we arrived which was quite cute. I'm very sad to not remember exactly what we got for each course, they had so many specials that aren't on their website! I think to start we had wood pigeon and the scallops, both of which were absolutely outstanding. I preferred the scallops (a special, I think) and my fiancé preferred the wood pigeon which was on the main menu. Each item was cooked perfectly and all the flavors of the dish mingled together beautifully - somebody in the kitchen knows what they are doing. My fiancé had beef and I had lamb for the main courses; both were tender and luscious. Though I've forgotten what we had for dessert, I know it continued to be wonderful as was everything that preceded it.

The servers were friendly and informative, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was similar. We struck up a chat with the folks at two tables next to us, our whole side of the restaurant was talking to each other! It was lovely, a warm and intimate place where you feel like you can either enjoy a romantic evening for two or strike up a conversation with a stranger. Puschka is pricey, but for such wonderful, inspired food, I think it's absolutely worth it. A great place for a special occasion, or any time at all!

Puschka opened in Liverpool's Georgian quarter in 2001. Unlike lesser establishments they use fresh local produce and everything is cooked on the premises. I don't know why more restaurants can't operate this way. So often its hard to get good quality food at a sensible price without having to visit a local farm shop cook it yourself. You are not just getting eco friendly food but of course it tastes so much better. They even list their suppliers on the website which makes interesting reading. Anyway, back to the review... Puschka's is warm and welcoming and is all about good times, friends and family. You should probably dress up a little when you visit, not to say you can't let chillax when you get here. This place is a local secret and I'm pleased to share it with you on Yelp.
