I think there is potential to be good but it's not that great. Got a pour over that took 15min to heat up the water which, by my opinion, is too long. Also the beans they used seemed to be slightly burnt an threw off the whole taste of the coffee for me..

My boyfriend and I have been going to Perugino for a while now.  The baristas are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!  They are always kind, happy and efficient.  I particularly am talking about Michelle and Bailey, although I've always had great service there, and always a friendly chat.  I will definitely vote for them in the next  "Best of" in the weekly.
I forgot to mention that the coffees and the pastries are superbly done.  We will continue to make this "our place " for a wonderful experience all around.

This is the only place I can really concentrate on homework. I get more done here in 2 hours than even at home or the library. But the only foods available are either bad for you pastries or bigger things like sandwiches and heavy soups, which are always delicious, just too much food sometimes. How about a hummus plate with some veggies?! It would be easier to snack on while I'm reading or typing away on my computer. I'd probably eat that everyday! I need my brain food :)

The staff are friendly, the coffee is delicious, and this place makes Eugene bearable and even charming during the dreary winter months. Starbucks or any other chain coffee shop pales in comparison. My only wish is that they had more power outlets, as I am a grad student and practically live here on weekends. Sometimes there's a wait for an outlet.

It has been a few years since I've experienced their horrible customer service and continues to be the worst service I've ever received, which is why I still feel like I need to share.

You will be required to purchase something immediately or you will be asked to leave. During the 15 minutes I waited for friends to arrive, I was made fun of behind the counter, given terrible glares, and asked to leave because I wasn't ready to order. I knew this because I had acquaintances in the coffee shop see the manager mock me when I wasn't looking. She didn't know I had mutual friends already in the shop who would tell me about her behavior later. Quickly after I realized they were not worth any of my money or time, I walked to a different coffee shop down the street.

Later in the evening I made a phone call to speak to the manager but found out the woman who treated me so poorly was the manager!! The manager yelled at me and hung up on me. It was so unbelievable! Stay away from here...

Lovely ambience, music, interior, and most importantly food & drinks. I like that they have a good selection of pastries and that they have daily soups/quiches(?) The baristas are really friendly too. One of the few cafes that open till the evening on Sundays (the only others I can think of are the Beanery and Wandering Goat.)

I like this place in general as a quiet place with good coffee.

I am giving it a low mark because the last time I was in, the food I ordered had a side dish with fuzzy mold on it...unacceptable.  How you can present that to a customer is beyond me.

We love the live music here, every first and third Friday of each month. Coffee and wine go well together, but if you are hungry, there is good food too. Come in and enjoy!

Live music every other Friday night by Percy and Jim is just delightful. We stumbled upon them playing a year ago when my then fiancé and I were driving through town from CA to Seattle, now we're planning on hopeful annual treks out just to listen to the duo. Perfect place for a romantic Friday night for two or a chill night with friends.

I've been a couple of times. Either on my own because I had to duck in out of the rain, or with a group of friends. I found the service to be friendly, sometimes you have to be the one to strike a conversation. The food is pretty good, a bit pricey in my opinion, normally I just get a coffee. Lovely latte art, I think it's required that baristas can do it or they are taught.

The atmosphere is a very peaceful, classical music is always playing, it has a great location. Right outside the Hult Center, it's an excellent place to sit, have a coffee and people watch.

This place has a great atmosphere. It has a very relaxed feel and a classy ambiance.  I enjoy coming here with friends or even by myself to get some work done on my laptop. I never feel rushed by the staff, and even after being there for a while, the staff is just as friendly as when I walked in.

I always feel welcome at Peruginos. They always go out of their way to accommodate their customers Their  Chai Latte's are the best I have ever had! I honestly crave them all the time! Their pastries are all delicious as well. Every time I stop in, I order a different dessert, and I have never been disappointed! Seriously, the food here is REALLY good! I would recommend this place to everyone!

The ambiance is different from anywhere else in Eugene: old-world with a bit of class. I've had my bosses request to meet here, in part because it's not grody and in part because it's pretty quiet.

I generally don't drink coffee or espresso so I can't accurately comment about Perugino's handling of either. I occasionally get food but can't say I've been impressed by it... for example, panini are small (but tasty). Everything is expensive.

Service is seldom with a smile. The register person usually stares at me, as though they have no idea why I am standing there staring at them. It also takes a while to get drinks. I ordered an iced tea after other people had ordered espresso drinks, and each and every espresso drink was made before I received my iced tea some ten minutes later. A little strange. Priorities seem to be a bit off - when I was a barista I was told to get the fast and easy things out of the way.

Overall, not a terrible place to sit for a while. Just don't come on an empty stomach expecting to buy reasonably priced food.

One of the best independent coffee shops in town!!

The barristers are friendly and very helpful. The coffee is great and the food is awesome! I often have the quiche and I could easily eat more than one slice as it is fantastic!

Overpriced, over hyped. Coffee and is better at the Park Street restaurant behind it. With the exception of the blonde guy in the morning, rest of the wait staff has too much attitude. Potatoe knisch? Forget it. Bland. I ordered a bagel today, to go and they fixed it up very nice on a plate with garnish. When I told her it was to go, she go pissed put the plate down, picked up the bagel and stuffed it in a bag with creamcheese and said nothing while she handed it to me, leaving the plate with the garnish in plain site. Obviously punishing me for not saying it was to go. BUT I DID. Her coworker didn't write it down. Guess the life of a Barista is so frustratingly complicated I'll never understand their suffering.

I found a slug crawling on my salad plate (after I had consumed most of it).  I then discretely went to the server and handed her my plate with the crawling slug, only to have her come back to me to say, "these things happen from time to time" They never offered me my money back on anything not even the yucky salad w/ extra living protein.  I had to go to them and demand they give me at least the 3 dollars back for the side salad.  Needless to say, it was a terrible experience, but worse of all, the horrible unprofessional way that it was dealt with disgusted me just as much as the slug.  I won't be eating there ever again, because I don't trust them now, and I don't even think I will bother getting coffee or wine there (although I trust that) just because the service was so bad.
Food was merely ok.  Nothing great.
Ambiance is pleasant, but if you go there, I would stick to wine or coffee, not the fresh salads... they may be fresher than you expect, and apparently according to their server, this happens from time to time.  So they don't seem all that phased by it at all.

A fantastic atmosphere and great space. The cafe is tastefully decorated with soft calming lighting. A great place for a professional meeting or casual coffee. There are a few tables tucked into the nooks by the window which are my favorite spot to camp out and get some work done. It's my boyfriend and my go-to spot!

Coffee is pretty good. Favorite is the chai latte. Decent chai is hard to find, and Periguno's does a knock up job. Their snacks and quiche are also tasty. One draw back (and why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars) is the service can be a tad slow. Mostly when there's only one barista and a full cafe. Understandable, but you'd think they'd have a better idea of their busy times and appropriately schedule staff.

There's also wine served here, but I haven't tried anything yet.

They have great latte. The vegetable quiche is very delicious. The tea, however, is a bit heavy. The inferior environment is really nice. The light, painting, and seat setting just make me feel calm. It's a good place to do my own work or have a little chat with my friends.

One little thing is that there is usually one person serving at morning. So the waiting is pretty long. Other than that, everything is good.

This is one of my favorite places to go to meet with clients.  The environment is very comfortable, "classy," and accommodating.  Beautifully decorated.  Happy hour wine for $3 a glass and a variety of goodies to eat.  There is a big conference/meeting table at back that is perfect for really spreading our some work or enjoying a bottle of wine with a group.  (wish they had stella on tap)  Free Wi-Fi!

I really love the atmosphere of this place, which is why I forgave the leathery chocolate croissant (perhaps the baker was having an offday and took it out on the dough - because I could tell it was homemade, having been a former croissant maker). At any rate, the music, the staff, the airy feeling in this brick and art-lined building was the perfect spot to concentrate on homework. You don't feel like you're packed in like sardines. Also they have a couple big tables for people to spread out and actually meet other like minded individuals. The cappucino was ok - I liked the flavor of the espresso but it was more like a mini latte with barely a hint of foam (perhaps a barista in training, since I noticed one helping the other). Overall, very friendly staff though, and decent coffee. I will be back, perhaps for a glass of wine and a panini!

Given that it's winter break for students and the sunday before new year's, i wouldn't expect any coffee shops to be particularly crowded, so I don't know if my experience today was typical of a visit to Perugino's. That being said, dear god i hope it is! if i had to pick one word to describe my experience, it was just nice. like other reviewers have noted, the architecture and decor are beautiful. i found the barista to be friendly and helpful when i had questions - she wasn't super perky, but given the calm, quiet, and classy ambience of the place i wouldn't expect her to be.

my one complaint with perugino is one that has been noted by other reviewers as well - they definitely take their sweet time getting your coffee to you. so if you're in a rush i would definitely go elsewhere!

that being said, the latte i ordered was pretty good - i wouldn't say its the best i've ever had, but not terrible. the cinnamon roll on the other hand, was to die for! after 5 awkward minutes waiting at the counter for my drink, i settled in with a book for a couple of very calm hours. there were only about 5 other people in the shop and with classical music playing i was able to tune out and get some work done - which given my tendency to people watch and eavesdrop is pretty good. again i don't know if the crowd there today was typical, but if it is, then this is a really good, off the beaten path if you're trying to get away from students kind of place. didn't check out the wifi/electrical outlet availability, but a great spot to get some reading/editing/grading done for sure.

Cool coffee house - great unique setting.  I love the atmosphere here.  Coffee drinks in huge mugs just like the coffee house in the "Friends" TV show.  In downtown near Hult Center and all the other other downtown nightlife.

If you are looking for something other than Starbucks - this is a good bet.

I'm currently sitting in Perugino with a pistachio-cranberry biscotti & a steaming mug of spicy house chai, pretending like it's not 95 degrees and rising outside. Having positioned myself directly underneath an air-conditioning vent, the whole setup is nicely reminiscent of autumn. Whenever a sweat breaks out on my forehead, I take a sip of ice-cold lemon water, let the heat pass, and recommence with my gustatory cookie dunking. The latte foam adds the perfect touch of spicy, creamy sweetness to my nut-and-fruit studded biscotti; I do not fault the fly that hovers dangerously near my afternoon tea, hoping I'll look away as it swoops in for a taste.

I could do this forever-- the cookie dunking, the chai foam mustache, the overzealous slurping-- but looking down, I realize that I've already snarfed down the entire length of the cookie... which makes me sad... but also hopeful that some kind soul at Perugino will read this review & make the biscotti strips larger for extended dunking pleasure.

Bottom Line: ... More cookie. Cookies are an anytime food.

Great pastries, nice coffee, and I enjoy the Caprese. I've used a few Groupons for this place lately, and I was happy with what I got and the price I paid for it. Service can be a little slow, but nothing terrible. Fresh food selection is limited and doesn't seem to change.

Yet despite my reasonable satisfaction with the food, I'm still somewhere between a 3 and a 4 star review. Something about this place just doesn't draw me in. This is never a place I think about for studying (don't think they have WiFi either?).  I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like it ought to be more inviting, comfortable.

Oh well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt at 4 stars. Certainly worth trying if you've never been.

I used to love this place but my last visit wasn't so great.

When I have been before its a nice place to meet up with someone and grab a hot cocoa or tea or coffee, good ambiance.

My last visit was just a run in and grab a soy hot cocoa.. I asked for a small which I didn't realize was going to be extremely tiny..especially after I paid 3.50 for it...
The size was too small to put a hot cup protector on it, so that kinda sucked but the barista gave me another cup so it would stop burning my hands.

I've gone to starbucks and got the same thing but a bigger size for the same price.

Since Starbucks has a drive thru and is cheaper and their hot cocoa with soy is really good.. I would opt to go there rather than here where parking sucks and its overpriced.

Love this coffee shop!  They have true Italian style espresso drinks and their baristas make a great cup.  My only criticism is that their only non-dairy option is soy milk.  As I'm currently nursing my 3 month old son, who is allergic to both dairy and soy, I can't order anything other than black coffee.  Hence, I havent been there in months.  I can't wait to be able to order a cappuccino or cafe con panna again!

This place is way over priced, granted they definitely have the high end restaurants catering the food but it's ridiculous. The staff don't look you in the eye or seem to want to be there. And if there are less than 4 people in the restaurant why can't the staff walk the 6 steps to my table to give me my coffee. When they announce your order is ready you can barely hear them or tell what they are saying. There is just a total lack of customer service.

My latte was flat, which if I wanted a flat latte I'd go to Starbucks. Not to mention, the milk was steamed too long so it was too hot to drink, which is a no-no for lattes.

Service was less than friendly. The cashier didn't seem to want to be there...I guess I can't blame her. The barista was nice, but couldn't make a drink to save her life. The poor soul before me got a latte made of screaming milk...those of you who know anything about steaming milk know what I'm talking about.

They had free wifi, but it lagged because a lot of people where there studying and using it.

Atmosphere is nice, but the tables are really small.

I probably won't be back. I much prefer Vero to this place.
