Jennifer Loomis is a true artist with authentic esthetics and amazing technical skills. Working with her enabled me to reach deep into my emotions as an expectant mother and then again with my beautiful 3-year old daughter. I loved the time spent with Jennifer in the studio as well as in our home. We treasure her photographs as much as the experience of having them taken.

Jennifer's great! She's personable and caring and she makes you feel comfortable. Her photos are gorgeous and we love how our family looked in them.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I saw an advertising postcard at the 3D sonogram place with Jennifer Loomis info on it. A week later at my partner's auction we saw that one of the items offered was a photo session with Jennifer Loomis. We decided to bid on it and got it for a reasonable price (we happened to be the only bidders). The item included a one roll photo shoot, prints not part of the deal.
I suppose we should have checked on her print prices before we decided to bid on it. We just couldn't afford the cost for her "museum quality printing" or even the cost of her digital prints($55 for a 5x7) was way out of our price range. Before the session took place (around our baby 6 month birthday) we got an email asking for a $200 deposit for the prints. We wrote back asking about the deposit since nothing had been mentioned about it on the certificate from the auction. We were told we could get our money back but were assured that there would be so many pictures we would fall in love with that we would end up using it all.
The day of the session we decided that we would like for Jennifer to use a digital camera instead of film because we were not sure if we wanted our prints to be color or black and white. She was always courteous but we would have wanted more direction during the session. Partway into it she told us that she was just concentrating on the baby and that we should figure out what we wanted to do (We had told her that we would like some family photos and then photos of the baby)
When we got a link to our photo gallery we were very disappointed. There was NOT ONE SINGLE photo of the three of us where we 3 looked good. We could only find one photo of each of us with the baby that we liked. The baby had better photos but at the price we had to go with only 4 total. After what seemed like an eternity (delayed in part because we debated for a long time whether to actually order any photos at all or just ask for a refund of our deposit) we got an email from Jennifer telling us we could go pick up our pictures. Our experience with professional photography is not very vast but I think that, as a courtesy to clients, mailing the pictures which are not framed would be nice. We were charged for shipping it to us too.
We got the pictures a few days ago, 4 4x6's, and they don't even look sharp. We are past the disappointment stage and just want to move on and forget about all this. We just wished it had been different. We really wanted to immortalize this precious time in our baby's development and we feel a bit cheated. We have nothing to say about Jennifer's manner, she was pleasant during the photo shoot and recommended a great restaurant to us but we don't feel that we got what we were looking for. Maybe things would have been different if we had been full paying customers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you so much for your feedback. I wish you had written me directly as well so I could have discussed this. Stylistically my photography is artistic and can be sharp or soft depending on whether or not I incorporate movement as a head flying back in laughter or some other gesture. Regardless, my style may not have been what you were looking for and the most important thing is that you are happy with your images. For that reason, I guarantee all of my photography sessions whether you're an auction or a full paying client, and it is written in all of our materials. I will be contacting you today to offer you a reshoot as I do with any client who isn't happy even with only one aspect of their photography. For example, my family photography is four types of shoots in one - entire family, mom and baby, partner and baby, baby and siblings and baby. If one of those isn't satisfactory, then a client is welcome to come back. It doesn't happen often but it is always something that is an option. Family photography is so special. Long after they have grown and become little people, the photographs are there to remind us of our journey together, the love and growth all of us have done as a family. They are a family treasure. Warmly, Jennifer

I have been a client of Jennifer's since my first baby was born in 2007. She took photos of me and my husband then and we came back for family photos a few months after the birth, so I'm a two-time customer. We'll be using Jennifer again if all goes as planned and we welcome Baby No. 2 in the next couple years (fingers crossed).
Our experience with Jennifer's services was one of the highlights of my pregnancy and we cherish the photos that came of both sittings. I was initially very hesitant to have photos taken because I'm that person who is most comfortable behind a camera rather than in front of it, but it was a gift from my sister and brother-in-law who (rightly so) felt I would end up embracing the experience. They were right. Jennifer made me feel beautiful in front of the camera and my husband loved posing as well. It was such an emotional, intimate experience that I would recommend to any pregnant woman.
Jennifer uses real film, which I prefer to digital. Plus, she came to NY to photograph us. Twice. We sat down and looked at the proofs and Jennifer was utterly professional. Both my husband and I got the impression that she wanted what was best for us as a family. She has the perfect eye. She pulled the best images of the bunch so it was easy to pick and choose. If you get a chance to see her book "Portraits of Pregnancy" you'll see that she has that unique ability to capture a moment. There is nothing "canned" about her images.
If you go with her, expect a wonderful experience and even better, a wonderful set of images that you and your family will cherish for life.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
