Nice hotel with nice service. I moved hotels at the end of my stay in Berlin from the Westin Grand (which was AMAZING) to go a little cheaper, and John F Arcotel was just the ticket for the price.
The room was clean if not a bit sterile. The TV was really small. The bathroom was ok clean but large. The beds were comfortable. I didn't like that damn chair though. I accidentally ran into it with my shin at least twice and left the hotel with a huge bruise. I also didn't really quite understand what happened when I put the "do not disturb" sign out on my door and discovered that my room was inspected and serviced.
For the location, it's amazing. Close to lots of things and restaurants within walking distance including the wonderful Museum Island and Unter den Linden. You can see Berliner Dom from the hotel entrance.
While I enjoyed my brief stay, I'm not sure I would stay here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 7 Feb 2018
Not all rooms are equal. At all. My friends and I looked into booking at Arc as it's very close to many of Berlin's landmarks and historical sites, as well as the large shopping district.
The entryway, bar, and restaurant are excellent, as is the staff. However, while my friend's room was exactly as the photos depict, mine left MUCH to be desired. When i walked in, i was surprised to find the toilet, shower, and sink in three completely separate compartments. The toilet had its own door - fine. But the shower was next to it and faced the hallway. Walk further down and there's the sink, facing a desk, which is backed by the bed. Who designed this?
While it seemed bizarre, i didn't want to make a fuss so settled in for the night. I didn't realise how much of a difference a bathROOM makes, but woke up numerous times because of the SMELL of the shower. Literally smelled like mildew - which made the room smell of mildew, which all-in-all made my already bizarre hotel room absolutely sub-par.
Add to that, insanely expensive prices for a bottle of water (6 euros) - which most hotels give for free now, and soaps / shampoos in pumps that attached to the wall were reminiscent of a crappy gym, made me wish I'd booked a good old Hilton / Marriott / Airbnb. Not worth the price.
Thankfully only there for a short stay so was able to escape to a normal hotel the next day.
Definitely not what the photos describe. Be aware.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peer T.Huntington Beach, United States3661025 Jun 2019
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. They think that they are cosmopolitan but they are only provincial. Believe it. The bar is open at least until 1 pm and you go after midnight and don't even get a beer to the room. Ridiculous.
Unfriendly Staff everywhere with attitude.

Stayed here overnight after my cousin's wedding. The hotel is very modern and cool. The front desk is accommodating and friendly. It's walking distance from places like Museum Island, Berlin's cathedral, Potsdamer Platz, and Friedrichstrasse.
The room was clean and stylish. The bathroom was so sleek - upon arrival I spent a few minutes just staring at it. Beds were very comfortable. Nice flat screen television mounted on the wall. There was also a mini bar that we didn't dare touch. Wi-Fi was free for guests only - you had to enter your hotel room number and the registered guest's birthdate. You could pay for a faster connection but it wasn't worth it because the free connection was sufficient.
They hosted a breakfast/brunch buffet for the wedding guests the next day, which was excellent. A great variety of hot foods, as well as fresh fruits, breads, cold cuts, juices, teas...the list goes on.
Very positive experience here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave D.Rayleigh, United Kingdom528255 Sept 2013
A very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The room prices are very reasonable to.
The only things is say is drinks prices at the bar are expensive and the wifi logs you off every 5 to 10 minutes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mack M.Seattle, United States31332198 Dec 2016
Very clean with spacious rooms (roll out that yoga mat, sit on a sofa or in a rocking chair) in a modern facility with a great staff and an excellent buffet breakfast (I counted over 15 "breads," three or four or five cakes, some gluten-free options and crackers) as well as a very pleasant bar that serves until midnight. I'm so glad I got booked here!

What a marvelous place. To start with, it's spotless top to bottom. The staff are exceptionally helpful and all speak English but are willing to help a struggling tourist to say it auf Deutsch. The breakfast buffet was beyond belief. I probably could have subsisted of breakfast only for our stay there had a done a full American buffet gorging. The rooms were very large with lots of electrical outlets and the shower could have fit a whole football team. The hotel itself is located very near a lot of great tourist attractions and it's possible to walk to a lot of great locations.

I only stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a larger tour but for my needs, it was perfectly satisfactory. I stayed in a 2 room suite that was large enough for 3 when the extra bed was made which had a great view of the red brick building across the street. The best part of the hotel for tourists is that it is within walking distance of so many sites and landmarks, including Museum Island.
There isn't too much to say about a hotel. The decor is kind of tacky. There are all of these pink lights (lanterns and chandeliers) and oversized rocking chairs in this rubbery faux-leather fabric. The beds are a little hard and the sheets and towels are a little rough and there's an inexplicable red light in the bathroom. But I enjoyed my stay. All of my customer service needs were met and I had no issue connecting to their free wifi.
The meals I had at their "Foreign Affairs Restaurant" were particularly good compared to some of meals I had at other hotels during my trip. For dinner there was a nice salad with a cranberry dressing and a lovely panna cotta for dessert. The main course was bland and forgettable but I had much worse on this trip so I was fine with it. They don't offer a large spread for breakfast but they did have very good raspberry danishes.
If you're looking for a nice, serviceable hotel in a good location for sightseeing, I would recommend Arcotel.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Roz K.New York, United States610214 Nov 2014
